Backside features a large facsimile autograph of the promoter Coffroth. Petroskey fought 1912-1920 including bouts against, Frank Klaus, Jack Dillon and Harry Greb. Died Sept 4, 1959 at the age 69. James J. Braddock (Cinderella Man) vs. Maxie Rosenbloom

 

VERY RARE- James J. Braddock (Cinderella Man)  vs. Max (Slapsy Maxie) Rosenbloom boxing ticket stub Nov 10, 1931 Minneapolis , Minnesota . Max Rosenbloom was the World Light Heavyweight Champion 1930-1934 and died 1976. Braddock was fairly big compared to Rosenbloom, Braddock stood 6'-2" and weighing 192 lbs, Rosenbloom was 5'-11" weighing 165-175. This contest ended in the second round with a NC (No Contest). Great collectable on both fighters, the full ticket has never been seen.

Ernie Schaaf vs. Dick Daniels

Ernie Schaaf vs. Dick Daniels Feb 16, 1931 Minneapolis, Minnesota . Ernie wins in the 1st round.  Ernie Schaaf was one of the first big name fighters who died as a result of a boxing match. Ernie Schaaf died a few days after a battle with Primo Carnera Feb 10, 1933. Boxing material on Ernie Schaaf has been very collectable due to such a tragedy.

Here is a 1926 Hennepin-Orpheum ( Minneapolis , Minn ) vaudeville program featuring Benny Leonard with Chas. Leon & Co. In A One-Act Comedy Skit "THE PROFESSOR". Very nice early piece on Benny Leonard's vaudeville career, this program features a very distinguished picture of Benny Leonard on the cover. Early vaudeville programs featuring boxers are rare and are even more difficult to obtain with a photo of the pugilist on the cover. Here is an outstanding example of a beauty.

Featured here is a Jimmy Ellis 4 round exhibition program with the headlines reading: "The Next Heavyweight Champion of the World". This event was held at the American Legion Arena in Orlando , Florida Feb 23, 1968.  The write-up inside, mentions Angelo Dundee as Jimmy's manager and states that Angelo has trained five fighters into World Champions. Angelo's brother Chris Dundee was the promoter of this event. Attractive 4 page program featuring Jimmy Ellis on the cover.

Tommy was the World Light-Heavyweight Champion 1927-1929. Born in Philadelphia , Pa. , Nov 29, 1902 and fought out of Philadelphia . Tommy's fight career was extensive, battling foes from 1919 to 1937.

Here is a gorgeous matchbook cover from Sugar Ray Robinson's restaurant he owned and operated in the late 1950's and early 1960's.  The restaurant was called  "SUGAR RAY'S CAFE" and was located 2074 Seventh Avenue between 123rd-124th streets New York City .  The matchbook cover features a magnificent picture of Sugar Ray in a boxing pose wearing his Championship Belt. The matches have been cleanly removed and the cover is perfectly flat.  This cover is seldom seen in this condition with 4 sharp corners and un-struck.  Note: The cover has a scratch above chest on the right side.

JOE LOUIS vs.  MAX SCHMELING I  

"Turn in on the BIGGEST MATCH YET!" 

 

Here is an original giant matchbook cover advertising the "BIGGEST MATCH YET" the battle between Joe Louis and Max Schmeling June 18, 1936. The giant matchbook cover produced by Buick depicts an artist rendering of both Joe and Max engaging with body blows. Joe Louis would lose this battle in the 12th by KO. The following year, Joe defeats James J. Braddock (The Cinderella Man) for the World Title and defends the title against Max Schmeling on June 22, 1938. The second fight between Louis and Schmeling becomes an epic, this outcome would be different, Joe takes care of business by knocking out Schmeling in the first. The inside of the matchcover is as colorful and beautiful as the outside. This is a wonderful boxing collectable on Joe Louis and Max Schmeling.

Here is a wonderful 8 x 10 black & white photo showing a very happy Sugar Ray Robinson swinging from the awning bars of his restaurant called "SUGAR RAY'S CAFÉ". This photo was taken on June 19, 1963, notice the people in the background in awe. Sugar Ray owned and operated his café in the late 1950's and early 1960's.  The restaurant was located at 2074 Seventh Avenue between 123rd-124th streets New York City .  These great meeting places are long since gone.

Here is an original flyer ca 1940's from The National Sports Council endorsed by Joe Louis. This multi-color flyer features a large head of Joe Louis and contains a facsimile autograph in blue of Joe as well. The original owner obtained this premium flyer from sending product labels or simply writing an old fashion letter. This is very nice Joe Louis collectable and would look great displayed in a black frame. Measures: 6 ½ x 9

Here is a very interesting and never seen before 4 page flyer advertising tickets and fight arrangements to the Muhammad Ali vs. Trevor Berbick fight Nassau, Bahamas Dec 11, 1981. This fight held at the Queens Elizabeth Sports Centre was to be Ali' last fight.  Unfortunately, Ali loses this bout in a on-sided victory for Berbick. This 4 page flyer contains fight ticket prices, package deals, hotel arrangements etc. There is printing on all for pages pertaining to the fight. Measures: 8 ½ x 11
